(POEM) 6 Per Day by Zelda Bean

6 Per Day

They were permitted six per day.

Six words, that is.

Six whole words to speak—

in whichever way they saw fit.

You may be wondering why

I have already surpassed six words.

You are confused.

I am not a member of the “they”

to which the title refers.

I am an “I”.

I am the omnipresent narrator.

I get as many words as I want to tell their story.

I choose seventy-three.
