(DAILY PROMPTED POEM) Naked Clowns by Zelda Bean

Daily writing prompt
You’re writing your autobiography. What’s your opening sentence?

There were a great deal of naked clowns.

The opening sentence

to a  book so close to memoir.

I choose poetry to tell my story.

Disturbed and dreading what I see.

I cannot escape the demented.

My demons dread my reaction.

I will not drown in words.

I will treat every word special.

I used to have no stars.

I mean no words.

Stars and words.

Words and stars.

Words are like stars.

They brighten up the dark abyss,

and when you don’t have any,

you can’t see shit.

I see shit.
