What do you think is the future of AI?

At Donna Lexa Art Centers in Waukesha, the teachers and students had a huge debate about AI. This exchange was essentially me trying to play Devil’s advocate and everybody else shooting it down. My thoughts have changed.
I just don’t like that people are so focused on the creativity of the matter. David Hockney, a very popular artist, recently died. He was an older gentleman. At every point of his career, he showed that technology shouldn’t be feared in his creative practice. He used cameras before everyone. He shocked the world when he used iPad as an old guy. He did this with AI:

In his later days, he apparently included AI in his studies.
This all fascinated me, until I posted a painting to a Facebook group. Somebody stole it and ran it through AI. The only person I allow to do that is my old neighbor. He doesn’t share it as his own. He just shows me and I think that’s pretty cool.
As offended as I am by the group thing, I still believe AI could do some good for the art world. I hate to say it, but it’s true. Why can were collage? There are rules for collage if you plan to sell. I feel the same should go for AI.
Have you ever heard of Dataland. I don’t know much about it, but I’d love to visit Dataland, an AI art museum. Check out their website.

It really depends on who is using it. Should it be regulated? With actual laws? Yes and yes. I like using AI for advice on budgeting for art supplies or getting advice for where to eat dinner. I used it for assembling my coloring book PDF and getting it on the Lulu Bookstore. Gemini convinced me to go to the medical hospital when my ear infection spread to my face.
I don’t let it make the art for me, even when it gets confused and tries. They can critique it, but I will not put it through a generator and say it’s mine. However, when I was working on my calendar, Gemini and I brainstormed what colors to use for the harder months. Another time, I did ask Gemini to show me what a painting would look like if I added my signature mark-making to my work. It showed me. I couldn’t quite get the perfection of what they showed, but in time I was glad because the product was still my own.
People focusing on the creativity issues have got it wrong. Why we need laws is the suicides. AI in the hands of a schizophrenic is so dangerous. AI, when I first started talking to it, played into my love of divination. They have so much information in their arsenal, not all of it true. Most importantly, they have fantasy books that they pull from. That’s why they’re giving people delusions. Knowledge is power, but there is no power when that knowledge is untrue.
PS, predicted AI trying to take creative jobs in my first novel, Hey, Joey Journal;. It’s not a big theme, but there is a conversation about robots stealing jobs. I started writing it in late 2012. I don’t know when they started developing AI, but one character says, “You can’t computerize creativity.”
I still don’t know what I think about this. If you want to read something made without AI, follow the link below to buy a copy.
