Yesterday, I went to a gallery called Celebrate Art to get ready for my art crawl show. We priced the art and named some of the works. Dawn and Stef are lovely people. At the end of the session, the ladies asked me to make some tiny art. Stocking stuffers. My teacher Donna Lexa was giving me some advice before going to the gallery after class yesterday, and she also said that smalls are good for the art crawl.
I’ve been trying to work small since my group gallery show in September. Index cards, watercolors, small acrylic paintings. I’m running out of room here at the group home so I have to paint smaller. I also have 2 or so secret projects that I can’t wait to share. One has to do with greeting cards. I just don’t want to jinx things.
I have loved painting big since high school. I missed a month of school junior year because I had double pneumonia in both my lungs. When I returned, everybody was working big. I felt so behind. My teacher taped a piece of paper to a board. Large. We gessoed it and he sent it home with me for the weekend.
I came back with this.

I refused to go small back then.

Now, I want to offer my customers a price point if they can’t pay for the big ones

This one below reminds me of the small paintings on the stairs at Donna Lexa, a disabled person art studio. Once I get more small canvases and magnets , I’m doing more in this style.

A side note: I started doing florals last year, not thinking anything of it. I showed people at Donna Lexa and everybody went nuts. I understand now, but it’s still not my fave style. I’m really happy right now, so that’s probably why these colors are coming out of me. This is the painting I mentioned.

There is a missing magnet. I tried uploading them all and can’t find the missing one.
This one is done on watercolor paper with Arteza watercolor pencils.

Same with this one:

This next one was with Caran D’Ache Neocolor IIs. Like the other two drawings, I used Sharpies to give it my own flair.

Technically, I started on them last night, but this is the roundup after a full day. I don’t know exact hours, but I did wake up around 9:30 and end sometime around 4:30. I got to start logging my hours again. Last year I was writing my hours in a notebook, but stopped once I started showing up. .
Join me on the 5th of December. I try to be affordable. Thanks again, Dawn and Stef!
